We know that sometimes life throws a curveball and plans can change. If this happens, you may need to amend one of your student's year groups. You will also need to update your students' year groups each September, as they embark on a new year at school but this may not be relevant if your classes have changed. Please click here to be redirected if you need to transfer your students into a colleague's group or class.
Your students' set year groups are important because they will dictate the activities they are automatically assigned (if you have EdPlace Recommendations turned ON) and the activities they are able to see and assign to themselves. For this reason, some students will benefit from working above or below their actual year group, as these activities will be a better fit for their needs.
Luckily, changing a student's year group is quick and easy!
Here is a quick video showing the steps you need to take to change your student's year group or, if you prefer, please follow the written steps below.
Log in to your educator account on our website at www.edplace.com/teacher.
Click on the 'Manage students' option in the left-hand menu on your homepage.
Now find the student whose year you wish to amend in either your Year or Groups view.
Click on this pencil icon beside their name and you will now be presented with the editing screen.
Scroll down to the 'Year' option and select the student's new school year from the dropdown list.
Once you have selected your student's new or edited year group, click 'SAVE'.
You will then be prompted to answer two questions:
- Would you like to remove any of their current assignments from previous years? (Please note, this will not affect any of their scores or records but will delete all activities currently assigned but not yet started. Any activities currently 'In progress' will remain on their To-Do List);
- Would you like to assign them the starter activities for their new school year? (These activities have been carefully selected by our teachers to give your students the best start in their new school year, plus we will use them to gauge their current levels so their recommendations are really tailored moving forwards.)
Please note, if you do not have recommendations turned on for your student, you will be prompted about this at this stage. You can choose to assign the starter activities but not use recommendations. It's important to know that, in this case, no work will be automatically assigned to your student after these have been completed. If you would like to learn more about our recommendations and how they work, please click here to read more.
If you have confirmed any changes and your student's details have not been successfully updated or they have not been assigned activities from their new year group, please contact the EdPlace Customer Support Team at help@edplace.com - we're here to help!
