We know that if you can grab a minute to check in on your child's progress on EdPlace or to assign them some work, it may not be sat at home with your laptop or desktop computer to hand. For this reason, you can choose to access your EdPlace parent account on-the-go via our website, iOS app or Android app - or, perhaps even, a combination of these options!
The great news is that every single one of our activities can be viewed and assigned in either the web or app versions of your parent account; however, there will be small differences between your account on our website or one of our apps which are important for you to understand. These differences may lead to you preferring access in one medium over the other, or you may find that there are some actions that you can only complete when you log in via the website.
Read on to find out more about these differences, so that you can make the best choice on how to log in to your parent account based on your own preferences and the action you are hoping to complete.
When you log in to your EdPlace account, the dashboard will vary slightly depending on how you access it. All the same information will be displayed but, because of the smaller screen size for the apps, the presentation will vary.
In the apps, you will see your child(ren)'s name displayed in the dark-blue border at the top, together with an overview of their summary data and the trend of how they are progressing:
On the web, you will see the same information displayed more globally down the page with important notifications displayed at the very top:
You will see similar small presentation differences and varying steps to follow to complete other main actions too, such as: assigning work to your child, browsing our activities, reviewing progress, setting rewards, and managing your account and linked student(s) accounts. Rest assured, that even though there are small differences in how to access and complete these processes, you can do all of these things in your parent account on either the apps or our website.
We hope that these small differences will have very little effect on your overall experience, but there are some actions that you will only be able to complete within your web-based account as they occur much less frequently. They are:
- Manually marking your child's completed work (for more information on this, please click here);
- Managing your own notifications (for more information on this, please click here);
- Managing your child's recommendation setting (for more information on this, please click here);
- Managing your child's self assign setting (for more information on this, please click here);
- Using the targeted 'Search' function to find specific activities (for more information on this, please click here);
- Viewing specific dates related to when activities were completed under the 'Review completed' tab (but you can filter scores by time periods instead e.g. 'Show last 7 days' / 'Show last 30 days' / 'Show last year' / 'Show all time').
So when they are planning to do one of these things, the best bet is to log into your parent account on the EdPlace website instead.
You can complete the vast majority of actions on either our apps or our website - so really, the choice is yours about which you prefer! In a nutshell, the strength of the apps are that they can be accessed anytime, on-the-go and really focus on providing useful recent data on your child's performance on EdPlace, whereas the website has more in-depth and global data to offer, plus a few specific actions which you may need to access occasionally.
We hope that this information will enable you to choose the best access option on EdPlace for the action you are aiming to perform and your own preferences.
