Those working in the education sector are driven by the desire to make a positive difference in the lives of their students and we are here to support you with this, by providing the best educational resources which reduce your workload and track your students' progress with ease. However, we appreciate that you will need to balance the needs of your students with the overall success of your business as, at a minimum, some students will inevitably stop using your services over time and will need to be replaced. Don't worry, we've got you covered in this area too!
Our goal has always been to present our curriculum support as a partnership with your tutoring service, which is why we offer the option to upload your company logo so this appears in your students' accounts when they use EdPlace (for more info on this feature, please click here). However, in the initial stages of learning about and trying your services, we appreciate that you want your teaching to be front and centre with prospective clients.
We have also heard from some of our tutor users that if students have full, unrestricted access to EdPlace, it can be tricky to control what they are accessing and when. Concerns have also been expressed that if parents can access the full suite of educational resources, they may (mistakenly!) feel like a tutor's services are less necessary. We know that great content will never replace the skills and expertise of an experienced tutor, so this functionality allows EdPlace to take a back seat as and when you require this.
Using activities or assessments to support your sales process
If you offer a trial lesson to prospective users, you may choose to use a secure activity link during an in-person or online class to provide them with access to your pre-prepared EdPlace work without showcasing the entire suite or having to go through the complexity of logging them in.
Alternatively, you may wish to send them an activity to complete before their first or trial lesson, so that you can use their results to assess and target their needs. Our assessments, with their linked downloadable PDF report, are a particularly helpful resource to use in this case - click here to read more about the types of assessments that we offer and when you can use them.
Using EdPlace to show parents a return on their tutoring investment
Similarly, we would recommend using our assessments to benchmark student starting levels, sharing the downloadable PDF report with parents to identify their learning needs and create a personalised tutoring plan together.
After an agreed period, the same assessment can be retaken to demonstrate tangible progress. Our assessments are dynamic which means that the assessment criteria remain consistent but the questions asked will change, allowing direct comparison of results over a given period. Of course, you can also use all the additional student data collected and stored in your EdPlace dashboard to support you with showing progress too. For more information on the student data we track for you, please click here.
