EdPlace resources are designed to support students throughout their entire academic journey from Year 1 to GCSE. This includes helping to prepare them for the key milestones and exams along the way, like the 11+.
We know that these milestones can be a major source of anxiety and stress for tutors, parents and students alike - which is why we're here to support you with just-right revision resources for the 11+!
Using EdPlace throughout students' academic journeys will ensure that they have the foundational skills solid and secure in order to build on for exam readiness. We follow a three-stage approach to help best prepare students for the 11+, Learn, Practise, Test:
Our approach to revision at EdPlace can be found underpinning all areas for examination. We believe that a 'slow and steady' approach ensures students feel prepared, confident and ready to tackle the tests. Hot-housing is not an approach that we advocate (although we know sometimes this can be a student's preferred method!).
There are three types of revision activities available to students sitting the 11+ examination:
1) Resources: By using these exam board aligned resources on a regular basis, a student can see their understanding develop and be confident that they have the breadth of understanding needed to feel exam-ready;
2) Exam-style questions: Once a student feels they have grasped the understanding of a key 11+ skills, we believe they should put this to the test in a short focused activity which provides the hardest level of challenge, with exam-specific timings to simulate exam conditions;
3) Practice papers: Exam preparation is key to confidence, and it's important students have had the opportunity to replicate the experience as closely as possible, including modelling timed conditions, a paper in the style of the relevant exam board and completing activities that represent the length of the exam.
