During these difficult and unprecedented times, we want to make sure that any students, teachers and schools who need support can access EdPlace resources. However, there are some elements of our resources and account features which we need to reserve for paying customers only so that we can maintain fairness and continue to operate successfully and support students into the future.
Read on to find out more about the main differences between the free and paid teacher accounts on EdPlace. These differences can currently be categorised into four main areas:
1) Hours of usage
Students linked to free school accounts will be able to complete an unlimited amount of activities, but only between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm. The only exception to this rule will be the 5 unlimited access accounts that teachers can gift to their FSM or PPG students (to read more about these accounts to support disadvantaged students, please click here.) Any students linked to paid teacher or school accounts will be able to complete activities at any time, 24-hours a day.
2) Number of students
Free educator accounts will only be able to have a maximum of 30 students linked to them, 5 students of which can be gifted with unlimited, at-home access. If class or group sizes are larger than this (e.g. a SENDO's account), you will need to subscribe to a paid account to increase this number. Teachers at the same school, utilising our free teacher accounts, will be able to collaborate on students who they may share, so more than one teacher can assign work and view progress for the same individual student. However, no overall administrator account will exist where all students can be overseen, transferred and reported on in a whole-school or class basis. This benefit will only be available for teachers and schools who are subscribed to a paid account. (For more information on pricing and plan options, please click here).
A fair usage policy also applies for every school on our database so that we can ensure that teacher account numbers accurately reflect the size and needs of each school.
4) Premium content
Some of our activities require heavy investment to keep them available and up-to-date. To allow us to continue to invest and provide the very best resources in these areas, customers are required to pay to access them. The areas which are currently classes as premium content are: 11+, assessments, and revision activities (practice papers and exam-style questions for key milestones e.g. GCSE, SATs, MTC, etc.)
So, in summary, if you need access outside of school hours (e.g. to set homework) or for more than 30 students, would like to access a school administrator account, or want to access any of our premium content, you can only do this with a paid educator account.
In the future, we hope to further enhance the benefits of both the free and paid accounts so it is likely that some of these differences may change and evolve. We will continue to update this information page as and when this happens. We are, however, committed to maintaining a totally free option for UK teachers from now on, so rest assured that this will never be removed.
