We know that sometimes life throws a curveball and plans can change. If this happens, you may need to amend your child's year group. You will also need to update your child's year group each September, as they embark on a new year at school.
Your child's set year group is important because it will dictate the activities they are automatically assigned (if you have EdPlace Recommendations turned ON) and the activities they are able to see and assign to themselves. For this reason, some students will benefit from working above or below their actual year group, as these activities will be a better fit for their needs.
Luckily, changing your child's year group is quick and easy!
Here is a quick video showing the steps you need to take to change your child's year group or, if you prefer, please follow the written steps below.
Log in to your parent account on our website at www.edplace.com/parent.
Click on the 'My subscription' option in the left-hand menu on your homepage. You’ll now be presented with your current subscription overview.
Scroll down to the section titled 'Child Accounts', where you will see the username of your linked child(ren) accounts presented. Next, to their package details, the word 'Edit' will appear in blue text:
You'll now be presented with the detail of your child's account.
From here you can update your child's username, password, and year group:
Once you have selected your child's new or edited year group, click 'SAVE'.
You will then be prompted to answer two questions:
- Would you like to remove any of their current assignments from previous years? (Please note, this will not affect any of their scores or records but will delete all activities currently assigned but not yet started. Any activities currently 'In progress' will remain on their To-Do List);
- Would you like to assign them the starter activities for their new school year? (These activities have been carefully selected by our teachers to give your child the best start in their new school year, plus we will use them to gauge their current levels so their recommendations are really tailored moving forwards.)
Please note, if you do not have recommendations turned on for your child, you will be prompted about this at this stage. You can choose to assign the starter activities but not use recommendations. It's important to know that, in this case, no work will be automatically assigned to your child after these have been completed. If you would like to learn more about our recommendations and how they work, please click here to read more.
If you have confirmed any changes and your child's details have not been successfully updated or they have not been assigned activities from their new year group, please contact the EdPlace Customer Support Team at help@edplace.com. We are also here to help if you have any other questions about this process or in general.
