You may have noticed the recommendations button featured on your parent dashboard. We're really proud of our smart recommendations feature so let us tell you more about how it works!
When you set up a student account linked to your parent's account, you are asked to specify the school year in which your child is currently working. We ask this so that we can assign them a set of relevant starter activities for their age. Based on their performance in these activities, we are able to get them started at the right level within the EdPlace curriculum. If your child has recommendations switched ON, our system will continue to automatically assign them activities (after these starter activities) which we think are a good fit for them based on their age and recent performance on EdPlace.
Another great feature of our recommendations is the reassign function. This means that we will automatically reassign an activity to your child if they are not able to achieve the required mastery score of 70% or above.
All activities which have been assigned to your child by us will be clearly identified in their student account under the 'Recommended by EdPlace' section of their To Do List:
Website:
Apps:
Activities which have been assigned by you, as their parent, or themselves will appear under 'Assigned to you', whilst any activities which have been started but not yet finished will appear under the heading 'In progress activities'.
If you would prefer to turn our recommendations OFF and only allow your child to attempt activities assigned directly to them, this is very easy too. Simply select 'Suggestions' in the left-hand menu of your parent dashboard, and switch them from ON to OFF:
If you have more than one student attached to your parent's account, change the name in the top, right dropdown menu to select the child whose recommendations you wish to turn ON or OFF.
We hope this article has given you all the information you need to decide if our recommendations are a good fit for your child's needs.
